It’s a bit late (oops) but… Happy New Year!
I have been putting this off for a while as I always had something else I was prioritising be it Uni, a weekend away with friends or just procrastinating to avoid pushing me out of my comfort zone.
However, I have finally kicked myself into action! One of my New Year’s resolutions was to create a blog post weekly (optimistic I know), another was to really take care with my skin care regime.
My skin has been a source of so many issues for me personally from adolescence and continuing on into adulthood. Alas, that perfect complexion just wasn’t graced into my gene pool. With that being said, I’ve taken matters into my own hands with a series of tools, serums, cremes and acids all in the hopes I will one day achieve that natural airbrushed complexion.
Like a lot of people I wear make-up during the day and have been for a number of years now but what has really been a game changer for me (and many others, CULT item) would be Clinique’s cleansing balm. After trying a series of cleansers this has been by far the best! The balm consistency breaks down make-up with ease and leaves the face feeling clean and fresh but not that tight and uncomfortable squeaky clean feeling.
I feel like that for so long I was taking measures with the feeling that it wasn’t going to get me anywhere anyway. Long gone are those days, if my beautiful and skin savvy mother has taught me anything it is: double cleanse and moisturise ALWAYS. So following on from this, my second cleanser is the SUNDAY RILEY Ceramic Slip Cleanser. Slightly pricey, yes I know, but my gosh does the stuff smell and feel so good! A little of this stuff goes a long way so it can last a long while if you treasure it (and believe me I do!)
My next step is to use a toner, my favourite for a long time has been the Pixi Glow Tonic. This has left my skin brighter, more even and dare I say it? Even a little clearer than before.
As I said if I have learnt anything from my mother it is the importance of keeping your skin hydrated! I have combination skin and find my T-zone can end up like an oil slick if I use a heavy moisturiser. Lately I have introduced the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water-gel into my routine. This is lightweight, hydrating and soothing on the skin which I find a lovely base in the mornings but an even more refreshing boost before bed.
You may notice a recurring brand that I have introduced to my routine; SUNDAY RILEY. This brand isn’t playing around and neither is this next product. Their Good Genes treatment is a game changer, a little goes a long way and the results (in my opinion) are worth the price. My skin feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom and my red marks calm a lot quicker. I mean there is a reason so many bloggers rave about this product!
Now I’m sure you are thinking jeez does this girl want to put anything else on her face? And surely, I do! As I said you may notice a theme… SUNDAY RILEY. I like to finish my night-time routine with a soothing night oil which is none other than the LUNA Sleeping Night Oil. After reading review after review I had to get this gem, it really does help soothe a break out and minimise the redness!
And lastly but certainly not least I will use a Salicylic Acid Solution to dot on any ‘active’ spots to help reduce them in size overnight. A brilliant brand that is affordable and effective is The Ordinary, I couldn’t recommend them more!
Now I can’t solely put my improving skin down to this routine… I do have a secret weapon. A gift I received for Christmas a few years ago now, we have had an on/off relationship due to my forgetful nature however, I always find myself going back when times get tough (break-out central). This mystery product being my Lumie Light Therapy device. But I’ll explain more about this beauty another day.
I know this has been loong and I thank you if you made it this far!
I hope this has been useful to the break-out prone or informative to those hoping to find and try out some new products!
