Tarte Shape Tape and Benefit BADgal BANG Mascara

Hello again! I have recently run out of foundation, concealer AND mascara all at the same time! Because it seems make up never runs out gradually but every item all at once. *cries and replaces whole make-up bag* So I thought I’d venture out of my norm and got two new products: Tarte Shape Tape Matte Foundation and Benefits BADgal BANG Mascara!

I have seen a fair few Tarte reviews and thought I’d weigh in on the new matte foundation (I got shade ‘light neutral’), I ADORE it. I am a full coverage kinda girl, I have pigmentation and will sometimes breakout so anything that will cover this is a god send! It was everything I expected from Tarte. Although, I think it was a given considering the cult following Shape Tape concealer has but let’s not digress!

Previously I was using Clinique 2 in 1 Beyond Perfecting foundation for at least 2 years and I really couldn’t recommend that enough (I’m shade 0.5 in winter… I.e. that palest of pale because I am a ghost child unless fake tanned!)! Clinique’s foundation is slightly cheaper, standing at £28, as opposed to Tarte which is £35, and is much easier to get a hold of, just pop to your local boots! Beyond Perfecting is a full coverage foundation and really did cover a multitude of sins but the only place they have been pipped to the post is formula!

The Clinique formula is slightly lighter feeling on the skin in my opinion compared to the Tarte Shape Tape which is very thick and creamy (but not heavy). So, if you prefer a lighter weight foundation Clinique may be for you! However, my only qualm (aside from the doe foot applicator, NOT sanitary!) is that Beyond Perfecting requires me to set my under eyes and T-Zone to avoid looking like an oil slick approximately 1-2 hours after application. Now, fast forward to Tarte’s matte foundation and my GOSH does this thing stay matte! If you have a really oily face you may want to carry blotting sheets or a powder with you for later in the day but I can go full day on the go and not worry about my face being a shiny mess! As I said before I’m not the biggest fan of a doe foot applicator which unfortunately the Shape Tape foundation does also have but I can look past this for the coverage this product gives!

The bottle says double duty beauty and I couldn’t agree more. Love, love, love it!

Moving on to the Benefit BADgal Bang Mascara… The packaging has some pretty wild claims (36-hour wear, lengthening and made with space technology, what?!), so I had very high hopes for this mascara. For a long while I swore by Benefit They’re re Real so why not give their new ‘bigger, badder volumising mascara’ a go? First off, I was sceptical of the wand but once I started applying it, I was sold. I mean as far as mascara goes it does what it says on the bottle, it is very black and it does lengthen, add volume and does reach into the inner corner well… so what more could you ask for? Of course, it’s not going to give you those long, luscious wispy eyelashes every insta model has (got to be falsies, surely!?) but for a quick coat in the morning to make you look less like the walking dead and more put together, gurl this will have you covered.

I hope this was useful if you were in the market for a new foundation/mascara or just if you  want to add a couple of products to your collection!

Much love
